Irish eNVy.

Brandon Allen and Sean Burroughs hug it out after the win.

Thursday night, May 12, the Reno Aces hosted Irish eNVy night. While many (me) have questioned the timing of the club's annual Irish heritage celebration, it is important to note that May 12 is in fact a historically significant day in Irish history.

Been a while since 11th grade world history? That's ok, I'll remind you: on May 12, 1641, Thomas Wentworth, English viceroy of Ireland and Earl of Stafford was beheaded.

Duh.

In addition to green beer, the Aces celebrated the beheading with Irish-themed jerseys, which were auctioned off during the game. Proceeds from which benefit the Reno Aces Foundation.

The Aces won handily, 11-3. Brandon Allen hit a pair of home runs and starting pitcher Zach Kroenke improved to 4-0.
