"Supreme Court weighs conflict of interest." - USA Today

I had a picture in Monday's USA Today. I missed the print version so I'm not sure what page it ran on but you can read the story online.

I photographed Michael Carrigan, a member of the Sparks City Council. In 2006, Carrigan was sanctioned by the Nevada Ethics Commision after voting for a casino project that his campaign manager helped develop. Carrigan, a former journalist and Reynolds School professor, sued the commission saying its reprimand violated his First Amendment rights. The Nevada Supreme Court sided with Carrigan. After a series of appeals the case—Nevada Commission on Ethics v. Carrigan—is in front of the U.S. Supreme Court. The dispute will be heard on April 27. The decision will impact when politicians and judges should take themselves out of a case.
