Cheryl Chenault's Home Design for the Holiday House Guest

I shot two home stories that hit the racks last week. The first one was an editorial piece for Reno Magazine, the other was a real estate story for The New York Times.

The pictures in this post were for Reno Magazine's November-December issue. On sale now if you haven't gotten your copy yet.

The photos accompanied a regular column from local designer Cheryl Chenault.

Chenault wrote about the holidays but instead of the obvious ornaments and Santa-kitsch, she focused on design tips for folks housing holiday guests. I photographed one room and spent a lot of my time focusing on details highlighted in the column. For instance, when preparing for guests she suggested leaving some books and reading glasses by the bed as well as water and snacks like seasonal citrus.

I enjoy design and architecture photography. It's slower and more deliberate than much of my work. And working with Chenault was fun. Her style is smart. She works well with a client's vision and creates wonderful spaces. I especially liked the linens she chose: great colors.
