Las Vegas thumped Reno 12-0 in Friday night's series finale. 51s Starter Steven Matz flirted with a no-hitter, firing 6 2/3 innings before give up a single to Nick Evans. Matz, the Mets #2 prospect filled in for top dog Noah Syndegard who, suffering from food poisoning, was scratched from his scheduled start.
For me, the highlight of the game was shortstop Danny Worth's ninth-inning, knuckle-ball packed appearance. I love it when position players pitch.
The Aces hit the road tomorrow with an 8-8 record. After four in Fresno and four more in Vegas, Reno returns home Monday, May 4 for four against new San Francisco Giant's affiliate, Sacramento.
